Nook Color Rooting! Surprised? Rooting is a term that seems to be hot on the lips of many tablet, and smartphone users.

Let’s first examine what rooting is, and then we can understand how to root or how to deal with rooting.

 

What is Rooting?

Rooting means that you are altering the operating system software, to removed the barriers vendors or manufacturers put in place to limit functionality. Once rooted a Nook becomes a full-blown Android tablet.

How To Get The Most Out Of Nook Color by Rooting It?

Before you can even begin to root your Nook Color, Good Alternative For Kindle Fire, you must know what type of firmware it uses, and this is very easy to find out. All you need to do is to touch the red arrow at the bottom of your screen. You will then choose “settings,” then “device info,” and then “about your Nook Color.” This will lead you to the information on the type of firmware, which is essential for the next step.

1) An SD card that has at least 12MB of memory

2) A desktop computer that has Internet access

3) An SD card reader

 

Steps for Rooting Your Nook Color

1. Make sure that you have updated to the official Nook 1.1 update.

2. Put this update on your SD card, but don’t put the card into your Nook yet.

3. You now need to restore the directory to factory settings (this can be done easily by powering down your Nook and as it tries to boot, interrupting this process by shutting it down 8 different times).

Note : You MUST have your Nook plugged in during the rooting process or you could destroy your nook color permanently.

4. Install the update. (this takes time)

5. Register, then reboot your Nook.

6. Plug in your USB cord and connect your Nook to your computer.

7. You will need to copy the upload update to the root of your Nook Color in the internal storage drive.

8. Turn off the power for a moment and then turn it back on.

9. Hold the power button for a brief moment until the Nook goes into sleep mode.

10. Your Nook will now install a new update.

 

Now You are Ready to Root!

1. You now need to run Win32DiskImage.exe.

2. Find the folder you downloaded.

3. Burn the file to your SD card.

Though there are many small steps involved, it really isn’t very difficult, just time-consuming. If you follow the steps carefully, it’s not a hard process. If you encounter any problems, you can stop the process and restore to factory defaults by doing the boot interruption 8 times.
