Android 5.0 Lollipop – Increasing Business Security

Perhaps the most important feature of the Android 5.0 Lollipop, revealed to the public in October 2014, is its special screen lock, which prevents criminals from accessing private data such as saved bank details or photos from a phone that has been lost or stolen.

Android 5.0 Lollipop and Business Security

A more ‘real’ design

As the latest significant upgrade to the Android system, Google has announced that the design will be far more realistic and intuitive, with shadow gradients and a three-dimensional appearance that will look more consistent and more appealing to people looking for a more synchronized, integrated platform.

More integration

Key to this integration process is ensuring people don’t need to ‘teleport’ between different apps; instead, each animation will be connected, and the user will get to enjoy more simplified multitasking buttons.

How does Android 5.0 Lollipop improves business security

With Android 5.0 Lollipop, people can monitor and audit their devices with a more comprehensive security system known as the Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux). This helps protect confidential data from cyber-attacks and makes sensitive business apps more secure thanks to new security models.

Business don’t have to rely on a third party to keep their data safe, which means they have much more control over their own data monitoring and may feel more assured that another organization is not in charge of keeping their data safe.

No more manual encryption!

Before, businesses would have to download a third-party app in order to encrypt their data. Fortunately, the Android 5.0 Lollipop already has built-in encryption, which begins as soon as someone turns on their device.

As you continue using your device and exchange data, the encryption key will continue to encrypt the information, which will only be linked with the device.

Use your voice to unlock your device

When you wear a Bluetooth device or have set up a specific location, the screen will unlock and recognize you, which means you won’t need to use your PIN.

Indeed, Google is also allowing people to unlock their devices with their voices, which will be convenient for people who prefer to multitask while using their phone (e.g. eat or hold a coffee and talk to their phone at the same time!)

More relevant notifications

When people receive notifications on the Android 5.0 Lollipop screen, the only receive the most relevant information. In deciding what is ‘relevant’ to you, the system will recognize what information you look at and interact with the most, prioritizing this in its notifications.

This will save you from having to read pointless or spam-related e-mails that have nothing to do with you, or notifications from third-party sources such as ‘a friend or a friend or your friend on Facebook has commented on this’.

And finally, the best thing of all: it’s free

Android customers will be pleased to know that Google won’t be charging them for all these new features. Many industry experts would probably see this as Google’s way of keeping its loyal customer base, especially as Microsoft announces its own innovative mobile device tool that will also be available for free.

Check Before Signing Up for a New Mobile Phone Plan

Signing up for a mobile phone plan often entails a commitment to a one to two years contract. This can be quite intimidating if you are not confident that the carrier will be able to provide all the cellular services that you need. After all, you would then have an obligation to pay a large sum of money every month, even if you are not satisfied with the service.
