What is Rooting?
Rooting means that you are altering the operating system software, to removed the barriers vendors or manufacturers put in place to limit functionality. Once rooted a Nook becomes a full-blown Android tablet.
While not as powerful spec wise as a iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tablet, it does allow you to a lot more functionality than a Kindle fire, or a unrooted Nook, so in my opinion it’s still worth it. If you don’t have a Nook yet, find a Barnes and Noble coupon, and save a few dollars on the purchase.
Also it’s important to know that rooting does void your warranty, so it isn’t something that all Nook Color owners want to carry out. If you have no warranty left, or just feel ambitious, then there are several steps that you will need to accomplish to carry out the rooting process.
